BALMAIN Resort 2012

ASIDE FROM THE NATURAL EXCITEMENT OF YET ANOTHER BALMAIN COLLECTION, a different excitement and intrigue settled in over the fact that this Resort collection would be Olivier Rousteing's premiere solely as creative director for the overpriced but overwhelmingly good house of Balmain we all love. Rousteing who previously spent 2 years as assistant to Christophe Dercarnin (the original creative director who took Balmain to the level which it rests ever so comfortably now) had high expectations set upon him. People, buyers, media, etc wanted to know if he could keep the prestige of Balmain and the look that rocketed the label into celebrity stardom amongst the masses. Theme'd the in the direction of "Elvis in Vegas" Rousteing showed that for what it is worth, he knew what he was doing. In every collection there are always hits and misses but ultimately Rousteing kept the super slim and elongating look of the pant, the high, borderline cut off the dresses and shorts as well as the sporty, chic, and super tailored silhouette of the jackets although some blazers seemed boxier then usual, it worked.
